Alright so the conference finals are in the books, All thats left is to crown a champ. To do that the Heat and Thunder gotta do The NBA Finals dance.
The Finals are here!!! After two thrilling conference finals that each featured there share of memorable moments The Heat and Thunder are set to meet in The NBA Finals. An already people are chirping about who gonna win. Wit so many stars to watch in this series the buzz is building fast. Talk of Lebron vs Durant, Wade vs Westbrook. And of coarse who will win a ring first. So how do these 2 teams match up? Where are the advantages for each team and what players will make or break this series for there team. These are all questions we will get answers to very soon. The will of one of these teams is gonna carry them to a title. And possibly set the stage for the next few years. So Ima give a quick breakdown of each team.
For the Thunder there road to the NBA Finals was anything but easy. As they had to defeat The Mavs, The Lakers, and The Spurs to reach the finals. These 3 teams are the only 3 teams in the past 10 years to represent the west in the NBA Finals till now, So they are def battle tested. They swept the 2011 champs The Mavs in 4 games of the first rd. They dispatched The Lakers in 5 gms in rd 2, and won 4 straight after losing the first 2 to the Spurs who had looked unstoppable till they met the Thunder in the conference championship. The Thunders young trio have been dynamic at worst and down right dominating at best Wit Durant leading the way avg 27.8 pts per game in the playoffs Westbrook is scoring 21.7 and Harden adding another 17.6 per game. Now The Thunders biggest position advantage comes at the PG spot, where its no question that the Heat have no answer for Westbrook. Mario Chalmers is a solid PG but he dont have the speed or athleticism to keep up wit Westbrook. But if Westbrook who has been known to play a little reckless does not play within his game and the team the Heat might be able to take advantage.
Now for the Heat there Road to the NBA Finals may not have been as impressive at first look as The Thunders but it was no less easy. They bounced the Knicks in 5 games of round 1. Then in the second round against the Pacers they lose Bosh to an ab strain, and fall behind 2-1 before winning 3 straight to advance to the East Finals to face The Celtics. Now the Celtics push the Heat to the limit. Takin the series all the way to game 7 before finally falling to “The Heatles”. The infamous big 3 for Miami will all need to bring everything they got to finish what they couldn’t last season. As Miami is the underdog going into this series. After what the Thunder did to reach The NBA Finals, and how they did it I can see why odds makers have them as favorites. However if tou look at the numbers they may tell you something different. Lebron is avg a staggering 30.8 pts per game, while Dwayne Wade is at 23.0 pts and Bosh is avg 13.7 pts a game(keep in mind Bosh missed 9 games wit injury) he avg 18 pts a game thru the regular season. The advantage position for Miami is clearly the 2 guard spot. The Thunder have nobody let me repeat NOBODY who can guard D Wade. While Harden does spend a good amount of time at the 2 spot and is a decent defender he will expend an enormous amount of energy guarding D Wade and that could take away from his offensive production and Wade is still gonna get his numbers. And dont get me started on Sefolosha.
So in the end Who am I pickin to win the series? Well in closing lets say that Durant and Lebron cancel each other out and so do Westbrook and Wade then it comes down to who is better Bosh or Harden. In my opinion Bosh is a much better player then Harden. Add to that the experience factor that the Heat bring. For Wade and James this will be their 3rd NBA Finals appearance Wit Wade winning his first ring in that Classic 06 series. Everybody who knows me knows how I feel personally about the Thunder as an Organization. Being from the NW, and what the Supersonics meant to the city of Seattle and me personally. That aside the Thunder are a great team Durant and Westbrook will be competing for titles for years to come but in this series I think experience is the key factor and that edge goes to Miami. So Gimme the Miami Heat in 6 to win and Lebron will hoist his first trophy as he and “The Heatles” win the 2012 NBA Finals.
See the road both teams took to get to the NBA Finals in the videos below!!!
