Tim Tebow is now a New York Jet  but can he really go in and take the starting job?

Everybody was at attention when word came down that Tim Tebow was gonna be a NY Jet including the Jets current starting QB Mark Sanchez. So do we now have a QB controversy in The Big Apple? I mean the Jets did jus give Sanchez an extension. So is Tim Tebow once again gonna be relegated to backup status or will Rex Ryan actually let them compete for the starting job and let the best man win? Tim Tebow has never been known for his ability to shine in practice, Its in the 4th qtr of real games where Tebow cut his teeth.

As for Sanchez despite his struggles last season he did lead the Jets to 2 AFC championships. Now lets be real here neither one of these QB’s is gonna be mistaken for Brady or Brees but they both seem to win when most people say they cant. So who should be the starter? If you look at the stats for both guys your not gonna be super impressed. Sanchez career completion percentage sits at around 55%  Tim Tebow’s is an abysmal 47%. Compare that to  Brady, Brees and Manning who all have a career pct of well over 6o% and you start to ask whats the big deal? Neither Tim Tebow or Mark Sanchez seem to be anything to fight over.

But for Tim Tebow his ability to win football games cannot be measured in simple stats.Its widely known that Tebow has been criticized for his inaccurate passing but in the playoff game against The Steelers we saw him connect on some beautifully thrown deep passes en route to a 300 yd passing game and a Broncos playoff win. But he was only 10-21. Now Rex Ryan is a defense first run the ball second and pass third type of coach. Wit Tebows ability to run the football and keep defense’s guessing it seems he would fit in well with the Jets. But they did jus give Sanchez that extension and have come out and said that Tim Tebow is the backup, but we know how fanatical Tebow fans can be and be assured the first time Sanchez plays bad the chants for Tebow will resonate very loud. And a team that already has a fragile psyche and microscope watchin them will be under tremendous pressure. So will it work who knows? But rest assured we all will be tuned in to see the drama unfold.
